Prop has been in family since 1969. Any idea what plane or aproximate age? Allegedly came from old airfield in Centerbrook Ct.

My guess is that it was manufactured in the early thirties, based on the serial number, and was probably a test design, assuming that I'm reading the design number as "86EX1". "X" was frequently stamped when a propeller was manufactured as part of the certification. If you go to this page and scroll down to the design numbers with an "86" prefix you'll get an idea of the engines used and some of the aircraft for which certificated props were manufactured.

It's nice that it's in original condition (by all means keep it that way!) and has the early Lititz style decals.
