  • Behrend und Ruggebrecht?

    Hi,
Yesterday I ran into this propeller being sold online. It stated that it might be a First World War propeller and that it is about 3 meters long.

I did some digging and the only one I was able to find which came close to it, was this 260 PS Benz Behrend und Ruggebrecht propeller of a German AEG G.IV from 1917.

I have not contacted the seller yet, but would like to know if somebody knows what type of propeller it is.

    Cheers,

    Jeremy

You can't reliably identify a propeller by its appearance. There are just too many similarities. The most reliable way is if there is stamped information on the hub, but with German props the information usually just the diameter and pitch and the engine used, although sometimes the make and model is specified.

It does look like WW1 era and of German manufacture, but even that isn't always particularly helpful.
