  • Westmoore identification

I recently was given a Westmoore propeller and trying to find out more about it and the plane it came off. The finish is pretty alligatored but the decals clearly show Westmoore and identifying numbers. It’s an 8 bolt hub. I’m new to the site so any help appreciated. Also wondering what can can be done about the finish or just leave it as is.

If you try to "restore" the finish it will lose over half its value.

I'm nearly certain that the "R9" stamped on the hub refers to the Curtiss R9, a variant of the Curtiss R4 but using the same propeller. See this example of Curtiss R4 propeller. These props were produced in large numbers and became obsolete after WW1 and were sold off as surplus items in the 1920s and 1930s.
