  • Aircraft Prop. Co. No 623 Des. X 1925 - Any ideas on what aircraft used this prop?

Have an old prop stamped from 1925. Had been my parents - unsure how it arrived in our family. Markings on the prop say:
Aircraft Prop. Co. No 623 Des. X
    1925
    It is 90 inches long
Also stamped with CB 130 and 773. two sets of 8 holes. Was told that it probably was retrofitted to new aircraft somewhere along the line and old holes filled in.
Would really love to know what type of plane would have used this prop. Or any info at all.
    Thanks!

OK: to begin with, the number 1925 is prefixed with the letters “R.P.M.” So it doesn’t refer to a year, it is the revolutions per minute at which the propeller is designed to run. This looks like a later propeller, from the mid-1930’s onwards.
No. 623 is probably the serial number of the propeller and DES X most likely refers to the design of that propeller.
In my opinion, it is extremely unlikely that the propeller would have been re-drilled to suit another aircraft; more likely that it has been used as an orchard fan or for some other purpose after being removed from an aircraft.
I am not familiar with a company called “Aircraft Prop Co.” but some further research in that direction might pay dividends.
