  • I also need help to identify this prop.

I have a propeller I would like to get more information on.
    See attached pictures.

Propeller: Paragon (American Propeller MFG Company)
    numbers and letters:
on top side center hole: 5050-1
on bottom side center hole: DES-61D
    510 X 450

    Physical dimensions:
    OA length: 70" (1778 mm)
    Hub diameter: 6.8125" (173.0375) mm)
    Center hole: 2.1250" ( 53.975 mm)
    bolt hole diameter: .375 ( 9.525 mm)

It looks like mahogany or birch. There are no cracks and is in good condition overall.

I would like to know the approximate year, plane used on, and value.

I have had this for 13+ years. I bought it at a VFW that was closing down.
I get so many compliments on it. I would like to be able to tell people more.
Very cool forum you have here.
I look forward to everyone's response. Thanks!

    still no luck

I'm surprised no one has responded to my post. Is information on paragon props hard to come by? I really would like to know what plane it may have been used on and what the numbers and letters mean....anyone?
    Thanks

I missed this post completely when it first appeared.

This looks like a later model Paragon propeller, based on its size, shape, bolt hole pattern, and type of wood used. No one seems to know exactly when the American Propeller Mfg. Company ceased manufacturing propellers, but this looks to be something near 1930's vintage.
