  • Help with propellor identification, please

    I recently acquired the propellor in the attached photo. I would appreciate any help in identifying its vintage and particulars.

    Here are the vital statistics as per the measurement instructions on the website:

    Length = 71 3/4 inches
    B = 2 1/2"
    C = 4 1/4"
    E = 6 holes
    F = 3/8"
    G = 3 3/8"

    There is a serial number stamped near the centre hole:

    M6754

    Here is the photo information:

    Hello Daven:

    Judging by the picture i beleive this prop is for a Lycoming engine probably on a Taylorcraft or Piper Cub. The model number should read

    72 LY 36

    The first number is for the length the LY is for the engine type for Lycoming C for Continental etc the last number would be for the pitch. A 36 pitch would indicate a mid performance prop somewhere between fine pitch for climb and coarse pitch for cruise.

    If you still have the prop and the model number is correct i would be interested in procuring this item.

    Thanks Guy

      It also could be a Sensenich prop, since the serial number is consistent with that. If so, it puts the date of manufacture as 1946.

      I'm surprised there is no model information stamped on the hub or blade.
