IMAG0324.jpgMy friend found ths old prop in a garage and I would like to identify it. I have attached some pics. The stampings read..
    DRG T.F.2141/2
    GIPSY QUEEN.31.
    TEST FAN L.H.
    DIA.
    91412.

It was found in a garage near St.Albans so could possibly be from de Havillands or Handley Page?

    Any info greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

A test fan is used to run engines on the ground, providing both engine resistance and cooling. It is engine specific and would never be used for flight.

I suspect that's what you have, and the "T.F." in the drawing number probably identifies it for that purpose, as does the stamped notation on the hub.

Many thanks Dave. I'm assuming it's from de Havillands in Hatfield? Also, is it worth anything?
      Cheers

Bob Gardner over there on your side of the ocean may be able to provide more information about its origin and maybe even its value, but it seems clear to me it would be used to ground run the DeHavilland Gipsy Queen engine, so it may very well have been from that facility.
