  • Propeller Identification

    Hi

I was wondering whether you helpful guys could help me out?

I ahve picked up this wooden 8 bolt propeller which was presented in 1984 to RAF Scouts in Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, UK . Any ideas on age or type of plane please? Any idea of value?

    Many thanks

It's almost impossible to identify a prop only by its appearance. Are there any markings stamped into the wood on the hub or near the hub on a blade?

      Thanks for the post Lemar

I have had another good look and can see nothing, which is frustrating!

Any idea of age, if not type?

It could be almost age since WW-II. Perhaps someone else has a better idea of its age.

              Hi Bob

The LENGTH is just short of 7ft long at about 80 inches?

Does this help date or name the plane it has came off?

              Many thanks for your interest

              Craig

Thanks for the info, Chippy, but whilst the diameter of a prop can help to identify it, I don't have a record of a prop eighty inches in diameter.

                  With kind regards,

Well thanks anyway Bob... it is on Ebay at the moment with a low start ( I hope! ) so we will see what the " market " thinks!

I will let people know how I get on.

Thanks to all again. You helped me last year with a WWI propeller clock which I managed to sell to a collector in Belgium so you are always my first choice.

                    Best Regards

                    What a great site!
