Hello. I recently purchased this propeller at an auction involved with the disbursement of the contents of a museum. The propeller is 95 inches in diameter and has the Lang Propeller Company of America logo on one of the blades. Unfortunately, the hub plate covers a lot of the hub markings and the only ones that are legible are: S.C. 5774; PROPELLER NO. 2179; and PITCH. I don't want to damage the hub removing the hub plate but I have no other ideas on how to read the remainder of the markings with the hub plate attached.
Because the museum had already disbanded at the time of the auction I have been unable to ascertain the propeller's history.
Could anyone on the forum guide me in the hub plate removal procedure or, given the limited information provided, assess what aircraft flew with this propeller?
Thank you for your assistance.
Darryl
