  • Propeller identification assistance

I acquired this propeller several years ago in Belgium. I was told it was from a French Caudron from the previous owner but I'm unsure if this is correct? Any assistance in identifying the type of aircraft this would have been from is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
    Adam

    Hi,

No, it was not made for a Caudron. But it is a very better pick! It is an Eclair propeller serial 5 made for Farman F40 fitted with a 130 HP Renault engine. It has the exact attended length of such a prop (3.02 meters) and the marking "SERIE N. 5" is clearly legible. It has to have 265 mm blade width (10" 4/8 ). Unfortunately it has been stripped of its original reddish varnish, leaving only its remains under the decal.
If you can apply, with a finger, some chalk powder on the markings, perhaps the prop number could be legible under the "SERIE N. 5".

    Regards,
