  • Please help with identification

    Hello, I have had this piece of propeller blade for a long time. It came from a pilot who was shot down near the Masurian Lakes. He was seriously wounded and gave this propeller to the doctor who saved his life. It is obvious that the propeller was cut to fit into a personal transport box. Is it possible to determine what type of aircraft it was mounted on?

    Hello Vladimir, it is next to impossible to correlate even a complete German propeller from this period with a certain aircraft type. Frequently the engine specifications were stamped onto it (mostly the hub) but, in contrast to British and some French propellers, not the aircraft type. There are very few exceptions (such as on the post below). The piece is marked JPW (I think… the picture is somewhat out of focus) which means Integral Propeller Werke which is the manufacturer.
