    Thank you; what a lovely propeller!

    Here is the other Sopwith Camel propeller once owned by Walter Nugent Sherlock. He gifted it to his neighbours the Marshams of Mill Place, Irton, who owned the Bower House Inn at Eskdale. Another generation of Marshams run the Bower House now, and the propeller is displayed on the wall there. This is also a propeller for the Clerget-engined version; it is marked on the hub but can’t be seen in these photos.

    A few years ago I consulted the resident expert on this forum, who identified it as one of a batch made by the Bristol Aeroplane Company in 1918. I subsequently wrote a brief history of the Sopwith Camel and Walter Nugent Sherlock which is displayed beneath the propeller.

    I am surprised and delighted to discover that there is another of Nugent’s propellers in existence and would be very interested to know if there are any other markings on your propellor; they might possibly be on the opposite side of the hub to the one shown.
