  • Help identify Liberty prop?

This prop is 8' 6" long-hard to fit in photo. Wondering how common or rare, approximate value. Decals appear to be gone. My dad bought the whole plane when he was 14 and wanted to fly it. His mom made him burn it and he sold the engine and kept the prop. He later became a fighter pilot, flew for United over 32 years and heroically landed the crippled 747 FLT 811 in 1989 just before retirement. His name was Captain David Cronin-he's "gone west" as the QB's say and is now flying in heaven. I'm proud to be his daughter...

I'm guessing that the Design number (400) is a Hartzell drawing in which case it was used on a WACO, which looks correct from its appearance.

It's not particularly "rare" and probably worth in the $500 to $700 range on eBay, but that's pure speculation as the market isn't very predictable now.

In addition, it looks to me like it's been refinished which would account for the missing decals. Refinishing will severely diminish its value to a collector.
