  • Identification Help – SCHWARTZ / LABO EIFFEL Wooden Propeller Model, Y.150 P.62

    Hello!

I recently acquired this unusual 16.5" (approximately 42 cm) wooden propeller from the estate of a former world traveler and pilot.

    The piece is marked:

    SCHWARTZ
    LABO EIFFEL
    Y.150 P.62

It has a substantial wooden hub with four mounting holes and appears to be a carefully constructed experimental/model aircraft propeller rather than a full-size flight propeller.

I have found a documented auction example described as:

    SCHWARTZ – LABORATOIRES GUSTAVE EIFFEL – H?LICE A?RIENNE

That example is also signed Schwartz and marked LABO EIFFEL, with the designation U.120 P.63.

I've also found references in early French aviation literature to "Schwartz" propellers, including an entry in Andr? Gu?ret's 1911 Notes sur les h?lices a?riennes. Gustave Eiffel's Auteuil laboratory was conducting systematic propeller testing during this period.

    My questions are:
    1. Can anyone identify Schwartz with certainty?
    2. Does anyone know what Y.150 P.62 means?
    3. Are these known to be experimental propeller models used at the Eiffel laboratory?
    4. Can anyone date this particular piece?
    5. Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated.

      Thank you in advance.
