  • Propeller Value Assistance Needed

I have a wooden propeller that I have had for several years. A friend wants to trade me for another antique, but I need help determining the value before I make this trade decision, or possibly put it up for sale.

Propeller is 76" long. Center hub hole diameter is 3.25". There are eight bolt holes. It doesn't appear to me that the prop has been altered in any way. It is in excellent condition.

    Markings on it are:
U.S. Propellers, Inc.; Los Angeles, CA
    CONTW535AC35196
    PLANE L6
    DES 76FGS64
    SERAF4310443
    RPM 2200
    HP 115
    TC 787
    ENG FRANKLIN

Would also be interested in the type of plane this prop may have been on.

Any help you can give me is much appreciated.

    Thank you,

This is a prop for the Interstate L-6 aircraft. See http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/fac...eet.asp?id=529 for an example. The value is going to be difficult to predict. I would check the eBay completed auctions for similar wooden props to get some idea of its value although prices vary dramatically.
