  • Repairing Flottrop Variable pitch propellors

    Hi All,

I fly an EAA biplane with two others in our group. It is currently equipped with a standard aluminum prop but was originally equipped with a Flottrop in flight adjustable variable pitch wooden propellor with a brass leading edge. The prop hub contains a ring gear that connects to a rod with a small gear to adjust it in flight. The original owner hit a sign with this prop but one blade is intact. He told me that he found someone on line who was building replacement blades for this type of prop. Any ideas on who that might be? The prop was originally sold by Univair out of Colorado. I've copied a wooden scimitar bladed prop for a Sonerai I used to own and flew behind it for some 50 plus hours without incident but if I can find someone who is in the business of making new blades I'd like to explore that option. Thanks, Bill (also fly a Pitts S1T that I own)

I would suggest you contact Kent Tarver at www.aeromatic.com.
