  • old propeller with only 2 bolt holes

I have found an old wooden propeller with only 2 bolt holes. I have read a post on another site talking about Rupp propeller quick fasteners. What is this and does anyone have any pictures? Would a Rupp fit a propeller with only 2 bolt holes? I will try to post pictures soon. Thanks for input.

      Hello Sarah,

      Welcome.

Please post a photo of the prop and its hub. It might equally be something more common such as the prop from a wind driven water pump.

The Rupp hub dates from WW1. It was a German quick release system and is exceptionally rare. I've only ever seen one.

      With kind regards,

As Bob suggests, those are usually from wind generators, typically from California vineyards, like the one in the attachment. They are usually long and and very narrow.

          Sara,

Please read that discussion you've linked to in its entirety. You'll find that the propeller in question actually had 6 bolts holes, 2 of which were used to mount it for display.

The Rupp fastener has no visible holes on the face, but 4 holes drilled part way into the rear of the hub. Here's one that used the Rupp fastener.
