  • Hartzell 797

I've recently acquired a Hartzell prop that I hope someone can help identify. Here is the information I have. I hope that you can associate it with a particular airplane for me or give me some insight where to look further.

    Thanks, Bob

Stamped on front of blades by hub:
    Hartzell, PIQUA, OHIO
    Design 797
    SR.NO. 17011

Penciled on the reverse of the hub in the recess where the engine flange attaches:
    Warner D797-83x84

    Dimensions:
    83.5" long
hub: 12.25" at rear; 7.75 at front (beautiful taper from front to back) recess in back of hub: 1/4" deep and 6" diameter
thickness at hub: 4-3/8" bore: 2-5/8
8 bolt holes ~5/16" diameter on a 6.5" diameter patter

That's going to be a hard one to identify. It's not on this list, and I have several other documents that Hartzell sent me years ago, and it's not on any of those either.

At least you have the engine, which narrows it down to some extent.
