  • Help with identification

    Hi,
My husband has inherited a wooden propeller from his father. We would like to try and identify what engine it was used on and what type of aircraft. Judging from the markings and inscriptions it is German but we do not know any more than that. Unfortunately my husband's father is dead so he cannot tell us where he got the propeller. It appears to still be in original condition as part of the tip of one blade is missing.
This is the information which is stamped on the propeller.
It is dark wood; it has the following inscription on one blade:
    160 PS Mercedes
L280 BLATT (and then either"BRU" or "PRO" - we can't quite read it) 20
    STG 190
    ZUG

    on the other blade:
    GARUDA PROPELLER
    D H P
    Nr 12905

it also has two different decals: a round one with "Garuda Feldpropeller" written round the edges and in the middle a German black and grey cross with "W" in the middle, a crown above and "1914" below.

The second decal is a large "V" with the word "TYP" written across it.

It has eight bolts which are spaced 5.5 cm apart.

We would appreciate if anyone could give us more insight into the origins of this propellor.
    Thanks in advance
    Susan and Carol
