  • Information on a propeller please

We have a wooden propellor with a brass leading edge printed with the following data

    DRG NO Y689/6
    D 7' 6''
    P 4' 9''
    B3551
    OC ? /33

There is also a symbol of 2 concentric circles and a line with 4 arrowheads.

Any information would be gratefully received

Maybe Bob Gardner will be able to narrow it down. I suspect the Oc - 33, refers to its date of manufacture, October, 1933. I don't have any reference to that drawing number.

Thank you for the info. The prop came with a picture of a Hawker Tomtit - would this be the correct size of propeller?

It's certainly in the right size range.

Take a look at this photo and make sure that the rotation (left hand or right hand) matches yours. The picture shows a right hand prop.

It is a right hand prop. Also the blades are stamped 1 and 2 on the back.
The Tomtit in your picture is part of the Shuttleworth collection at Old Warden which is only half an hour's drive from where I live.

I hope you or Bob can add to what we know so far

          Best wishes
