    Thanks for your detailed footwork, Bob. This has been a confusing thread to me, starting with a link to an SE5A propeller that went to a Sopwith Camel propeller . . .


    . . . ending with an SE5A propeller that went to a Sunbeam engine.

      Thanks Dave! It confused me enormously too. But eventually I understood what the Royal Aircraft Factory did when the new Hisso engine began to show faults. They tried the Sunbeam Arab in the SE5 as a back-up. It was such a minor occurrence to them that they didn't bother to record it; they just took one of the props, probably an unused blank, from the experimental batch (AB8210-AB8224).

      And thanks too to John for following this lead through Google to discover that they produced six SE5A with Sunbeam Arab engines.

        Quite a rare propeller then?
        What a story.
        At least I have something to waffle about when someone asks me.
        From what I have read the Arab engine was a rip off of the Hisso and had vibration problems. Apparently none saw frontline service
