    It is a propeller which looks to be of German manufacture which was accepted into Dutch military service in 1919, shown by the circular cartouche which carries the crown and cipher of Queen Wilhelmina and the name HEMBRUG, a military depot in the town of this name in the suburbs of Amsterdam.

    180pk Opel indicates a 180 horsepower engine made by the German maker Opel. Spoed 189 indicates (I think) that in emergency the prop can be used with an engine of up to 189hp.

    The diameter of the prop is 2900mm.

    Hopefully we have a Dutch forumite who can add to this.

    With best wishes,

    Bob

        Hi,

        I don't know anything in Nederlands, but I think "SPOED" is the pitch :

        In this Nederlands page http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schroefdraad you can read (chapter "Soorten en maten") :

        Er zijn twee belangrijke maten bij een schroefdraad:

        * de diameter;
        * de spoed: dit is de verplaatsing langs de as per omwenteling.

        If you paste the text in Google Translate to English, it reads :

        There are two important dimensions in a thread:

        * Diameter;
        * The urgency: this is the movement along the axis per revolution.

        So, the Google translation by "urgency" have to be pitch ...

        Engine is probably an Argus III made by Opel, and you will find some aircrafts using this one by Wiki search : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special...h/Argus_As_III

        With regards,
        PM
