  • Heine propeller identification

    Greetings.

I have a laminated, wooden Heine propeller, with brass inlays to the two front edges of the blades.

It is approximately 10' in length, and has the "Heine" logo as an applied decal (in "gold" lettering) on both blades.

The condition is very good. However, it appears that the "reverse" (the opposite side to the decals) was cut out for a clock at some time.

It has the following markings embossed:

    200 PS
    L O (?)
    D 300
    H 210
    HEINE
    42483

There is also a small "B" embossed, near the "center", on the right hand blade.

Can you give any indication of its age, and/or the aeroplane type, and if it is "salable"?

    Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Bill Greaves

I think most of the early (WW1) era Heine propellers did not have decals and were not metal sheathed, so I'm guessing that this is from a later era.

Bob Gardner checks in here from time to time and has a lot more information about German props, so hopefully he can shed some light on this one.

      Hello Bill,

      I can't identify the aircraft. The prop dates from the 1920's, around 1925 I would guess. The data indicates;
      200 hp engine
      Lorraine Dietrich engine perhaps
      Diameter 3000mm
      Pitch 2100mm
      Heine; the prop maker
      42483 serial number

      With regards,

      Bob

        Dear Dave and Bob,

Thank you both for your kind replies to my post.

Do you think this is a propeller that could be sold?

        If so, where/how?

        Best,

        Bill
