  • Looking for advise on possibly refinishing a 1945 Sensenich 72C-42 prop?

I was just given a Sensenich 72C-42 off a Aeronca L-3 Grasshopper. It is in pretty decent shape overall. The prop tips are yellow and looks as though somebody lathered a ton of varnish on at one time. The serial number has it production date at 1945. Would it be worth it to take the old varnish off it, do some very light sanding, paint the tips the original olive drab, then varnish it back up? Since it is not as unique as an old WWI prop, would I be devaluing it? I just wanted to ask some folks with experience before I possibly start this project. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

      Lamar,
I appreciate the advice. I'm not going to touch it as I would do more harm than good. Thanks for all the research you folks have put together with this forum. It’s nice to see the plethora of data available for these historic wooden propellers!
