I own a J-1 prop with brass I.D. tags intact. The tag indicates a Scott Hall engine application, but I would like to know the type of plane they were used on? Just about everything you could do wrong was done to this prop, painted with latex paint and a clock housing carved out. I have stripped the paint and made modest repair of the hub including a brass machined hub cover that matches all original openings making it presentable. Not sure what to do at this point to the raw wood? The copper covers on the ends are good. Being an old guy from eight feet away it looks good to me.
