  • Need help indentifying one Propeller

    Hello, I was wondering if sombody could help me indentifying my second proppeller, as I have one from the fairchiled Cornell, I would also very much like to know which type of plane the second propeller i have comes from. Do not know if this if from pre or post ww I

    Markings on the proppeller is:

    LP 5300 RII
    BR 2
    D2730
    P2920

    In the nav:

    G 1430 N4

    the lengt of the propeller is abt 2m and 80 cm,
    the dia of the nav is abt 22cm
    pls see pictures..

    Greetings and welcome to this forum.

    Your prop is British from just after WW1, very probably from the Sopwith Salamander, which was a ground attack version of the Sopwith Camel.

    The data on the prop translates as;

    LP 5300 RII. A Lang Propeller, drg no 5300. (RII is actually RH, for Rt hand rotation)
    BR 2 The Bentley BR2 rotary engine of 200hp
    D2730 diameter in mm
    P2920 pitch in mm.

    G 1430 N4 indicates the prop is no 4 of batch 1430. This was a British Government number. It dates from around November 1919, if these batch numbers were issued in turn chronologically. I suspect that some weren't.
