  • Burgess Prop

    Hi,

I have an old wooden Burgess prop. I will be putting it up for sale shortly, but want to get as much information as possible first. From my research on the very fascinating Mr. Burgess, I am thinking this is a WWI era prop.

The prop is 8' in length and is 11" wide at the middle of the blade. The hub is about 8" and the hole itself is about 3". The prop seems to be made of mahogany with hammered copper on the ends.

Any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Very neat old prop.

Despite some semi-extensive research on that propeller several years ago, I was really not able to come up with much help in identifying it beyond what's already apparent.

Three years ago, this one sold on eBay for $3200, but I would be surprised to see it sell for that much in today's market.

Thanks for the quick response! I'll wait a few days to see if anyone else weighs in, then go ahead and post with what I've got.
