  • Fahlin D-500, no bolt holes

Years ago I acquired a Fahlin D-500 propeller,
with No. 01153 HP 65, RPM 1950 stamped on it.
It has the center hole for the main shaft, but no
holes for the mounting bolts. Obviously it was never
mounted. Is it flawed? It has the metal covering on the
    leading edges and tips.

    No visible cracks.

It's a good bet that it got rejected late in the manufacturing process, but one other possibility is that the type certificate covered engines with different hub measurements (although I'd have to check to see if that was possible). It is unusual to see a finished modern propeller without hub holes though.
