  • gardner propeller ID

We are manufacturers of displays of all sorts. Recently we had a request to assemble a piece of aviation history regarding the Brooklyn Aero Club that was active at Roosevelt Field here on Long Island , New York. Not being well versed in vintage aircraft engine design we took creative liberties with the design to give it eye appeal and simplicity. Our question is, the propeller we are using is a Gardner Manufacturer with the markings DES 4042 SER 44061. It would be helpful to know if those specs would have fallen into the time frame of 1921-1947. Thank you very much, any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the Forum.

What a neat piece of work you created! I find it very pleasing to my eyes.

To answer your question, I have documentation and at least one eye-witness account of Gardner manufacturing wooden props during WW-II. The company ceased the prop business sometime after the war.
