Default I have a WW1 propeller. I would like to ID.

I found a WW1 propeller in my grandmother's house.
The markings on the propeller read. What kind of airplane ? Date ?

178 P
MFRGF (MERGE ???)
T278
L215
HEINE
N28 70

If you can help I would appreciate it.

Heine was a German propeller manufacturer, although they did also make propellers well after WW1.

Unfortunately, there are no good references for German props by drawing number, so it has to be narrowed down by size, engine (if specified), etc., and even then it's hard to know for sure.

Can you provide a photo?

Some speculation (since the numbers aren't clear):

"MFRGF" may be "MERCE" for Mercedes
"178 P?" might be "170 PS" or "178 PS" for 170 HP
The length and pitch may correspond to the numbers stamped. Usually length is preceded by "D" and pitch by "ST" in German

I agree with David Bahnson.

It will almost certainly be a Mercedes engine, although I have not seen one referred to as 179 ps. The 160 ps developed into the 180 ps.

The diameter and pitch suggest a fast aircraft such as a fighter.
