  • 54" Hartzell Wood Propeller

I just bought an 54" Hartzell Wood Propeller off ebay. I could not find out much about this prop before I bought it. Could you tell me more? Looks like the hub my have been repaired with metal? Not sure about bolt patter till I get it in my hands. Like I said it looks like the did something funny on the hub? It had notes the owner thought it was from the 30's? Approx. 54.5" long ~ 6.5" Would this be an airboat prop or something other than an airplane? I am guessing it must be some what old? Not sure about 1930, but I know they quit making wood props in the 1960.s. Does anyone have anymore infomation about this one?

    On the prop -
    Design #8433 P - 23.8 (Would the 23.8 be the pitch?)
    Serial # A53402
    Hartzell, Piqua, Ohio

I'll be interested to see what the hub looks like but right now I'd suggest it is a fan blade of some sort.

Way too big for a generator I think but I'm no expert.
