  • Help Identify this 10ft wooden propeller

    Total length 10'
    Center hole 1 1/2"
    2 smaller holes 9/16"
    Width at center 5 3/4"
    Thickness at center 1 3/4"
    Width at ends 7"
    Appears that the center hub diameter is 5 1/2 Inches
    Has copper cladding on both ends
    Looks like maple wood
    Can email pictures

    It doesn't sound like an airplane propeller, from the dimensions you've given. Can you post a picture?

        Yes, that's definitely not an aircraft propeller. Although I'm not sure, I think it's from some sort of wind generator or similar device.

          I agree with Dave. It looks to me like a wind generator prop, too. Or perhaps a prop from a device used in citrus groves to prevent the formation of frost on the fruit.

            That's how Jacuzzi got started. They made vineyard foggers, then went into aircraft propeller production in WW1, producing quite a volume, then stopped the business when one of the brothers was killed in a cross country flight. It's the same family that later started the hot tub business.
