  • help with identification

I have this propeller that i have been carrying around since the late seventies. It was given to my Grandfather sometime during his service years. He served on board the USS Lexington cv 2 and was on board when she sank. The family elders have always said that he was involved in the design and application of the timing device used to fire between the prop. I have no idea where to start looking for any info, so any help would be appreciated. as for the prop. it is about 48" with brass on the leading edges and fabric on the tips, 8 bolt holes, not sure of the wood

Well, we'd need a little more information and probably a picture.

The size is not typical for an aircraft propeller.
