  • Bob Gardner's latest books

A note to my fellow forumites to let you know that the first two parts of my series of five books describing the British prop makers of WW1 and their props will be published in about two weeks time.

You can order in advance now from my website.
    www.aeroclocks.com

This series of five books is the specific detailed companion to our book on the general design and manufacture of British WW1 propellers. Whereas that book describes the design and development of aircraft propellers and the rules and regulations which shaped them, the aim of this series of books is to provide a guide to individual British WW1 propellers, to illustrate the various types and to describe those who made them. The makers are described in alphabetical order.

Part One is a hardback book printed on art paper in full colour with 142 pages and over 170 illustrations.

    It describes:

The props of the three design authorities; the Royal Aircraft Factory, the Air Department of the Admiralty and the later Air Board which succeeded the first two.

And seventeen makers and their props from the Aircraft Construction Co to Boulton & Paul Ltd.

    Price £37.00 GBP plus P & P.

Part Two is a hardback book printed on art paper in full colour with 184 pages and 240 illustrations.

It describes twenty-five makers from the British & Colonial Co (better known as Bristol) to the Falcon Airscrew Co.

Some descriptions are a few lines long whereas the account of Bristol propellers amounts to fifty-two pages and those of the Ebora Propeller Co, to nearly forty pages.

    Price £38.00 GBP plus P & P

Part Three Due out in March 2011 ( I hope!)

With kind regards to you all,
