  • Wooden Prop Help ID

I have been given a wooden prop for display at our aircraft exhibt in Havelock, NC. Numbers appear to be: DES 72C42, Ser No. 12461, HP 65, RPM 2350 and six hole hub. Really need some accurate info so to display properly. I believe it to be a Sensenich and 1940's time frame. Dating correct? What type AC? Approx. value? I think your information is essentially correct, and you can go here to see what aircraft that model was used on.

Since there are no decals, I'm presuming that it has been refinished, and I would guess its "market" value (if there is such a thing) to be around $250 to $350 dollars.

It is a common prop used on aeronca champs, chiefs, and almost anything that was powered by a 65 h.p. continental of the era. My first flight instructor ran a flight school right here in Siren Wi. after WWII and taught hundreds of pilots under the G.I. bill in such aircraft. He had about a dozen of those props stacked up in the corner of his hangar, unairworthy or broken, Those props had a rough life.

I helped him toss those props in the dump.
