Propeller table, identification and care

Hi Folks,
I bought this table made from an old propeller at an auction in Kimberley, South Africa. If if is possible to identify, I would be grateful if anyone can help. But it is also in quite a vulnerable condition. The upper (dark colored) part seems to be resin that now is crumbling on the edges. Is there any way this can be treated to help preserve it?
