Comments: This DH4 propeller sustained "combat damage" in WW1 when it was hit from behind by a single
bullet. Apparently the plane was able to return home safely and the propeller
was replaced. The DH4 was the only US built aircraft to fly combat
in WW1, and of the 1213 shipped to France, only 417 saw combat, including this
one. The DH4 was powered by the 12 cylinder Liberty engine, although at
the time this propeller was stamped, it is only referred to as "USA 12".
This propeller was brought home by a person with the last name of Murnane,
but no further information has been obtained. Wood: Mahogany Length: 9' 8" |
